SPAWNIX

Set up your guild in an hour

A step-by-step checklist from creating your account to a live website, members invited, Discord connected and your first event on the calendar.

This is the fastest route from "I just heard about Spawnix" to a guild that's actually running: a public website, a forum, Discord hooked up, members in, and your first event scheduled. Work through the steps in order. Each one takes a few minutes and links to a full article if you want the details.

You'll need about an hour, your Discord server (if you have one), and a rough idea of what your guild is about.

The checklist at a glance

Step What you do Time
1 Create your account 2 min
2 Create your guild 5 min
3 Set your time zone and ranks 3 min
4 Build and publish your home page 15 min
5 Open your forum 5 min
6 Connect Discord 5 min
7 Open recruitment 10 min
8 Invite your officers and members 5 min
9 Schedule your first event 5 min
10 Final checks 5 min

Step 1: Create your account

  1. Go to the Spawnix sign-in page and choose the Register tab.
  2. Pick a username, enter your email and a password (at least 8 characters), and confirm you're 16 or older and agree to the terms.
  3. Open the confirmation email and click the link. You can't sign in until your email is confirmed.

Prefer Discord? Use Sign up with Discord instead. Signing in with Discord also links your Discord account, which matters later when your members use the Spawnix bot.

Step 2: Create your guild

Right after your first sign-in you land on Set up your guild.

  1. Pick your game. You'll see a preview of the ranks it comes with and where new members start.
  2. Start from a kit (optional). A starter kit sets up a look, pages, ranks, forums and events in one go. Start blank gives you just the basics.
  3. Choose your URL. This becomes yourname.spawnix.gg. Use 3 to 32 lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens.
  4. Enter your guild name and click Create Guild (the button uses your game's word, such as Create Clan).

More detail: Create your guild.

Step 3: Set your time zone and ranks

  1. Open Settings. Under General, pick your guild's Time zone: the one your raid and event times are announced in. Event times show in it, and Discord's /events create reads times in it. Click Save changes.
  2. Your guild starts with your game's standard ranks. If you use different titles in-game, match them now so promotions make sense to everyone: find Game & Ranks, click a rank name, type the new name and press Enter.

Only the owner can rename ranks, and the order is fixed (most senior first). If you want a completely different set, the Rank ladders tab in the Marketplace has ready-made ones; choose Use these ranks on one you like.

Ranks are not the same as dashboard roles. Ranks decide what people can read and post; roles decide who can manage things. Roles and ranks explains both in two minutes and is worth reading before you invite anyone.

Step 4: Build and publish your home page

Your website lives at yourname.spawnix.gg. The page whose URL is /home is your front page.

  1. Open Website pages and click New Page.
  2. Name it Home (the URL slug becomes /home automatically) and create it.
  3. In the editor, add a section from the palette on the left, then drop blocks into it: a Heading, some Text about who you are, an Image or Video, and a Button that links to your Discord.
  4. Add a Navigation section at the top so visitors can move between pages. Your public forum reuses the home page's menu.
  5. Click Theme to set your colors and fonts.
  6. Click Save, then Publish.

Short on time? The Site templates and Themes tabs in the Marketplace give you a full set of pages and a finished look. Templates are added unpublished, so you can edit them first.

More detail: Website builder, Page blocks and Site themes.

Step 5: Open your forum

A forum gives your guild a place for guides, sign-ups and announcements that doesn't scroll away like a Discord channel.

  1. Open Forums.
  2. Click the gear at the top right to turn on moderator tools. It changes to Moderating.
  3. Click New category, give it a name and description, and choose Who can read and Who can post.
  4. Repeat for two or three categories, for example: Announcements, General, and Recruitment.

Tick Public on a category to let anyone read it on your website, even without an account. A public "About us" or "Recruitment" category is a great way to show visitors what your guild is like. Posting still needs the rank you chose.

More detail: Forums.

Step 6: Connect Discord

  1. Open Settings and find the Discord card.
  2. Click Add Spawnix to Discord and approve it for your server. You need permission to add apps to that server in Discord. The bot only asks to view channels, send messages and embed links.
  3. Back in Spawnix, choose your Announcements channel.
  4. Tick what to post: new polls, new threads in public forum categories, and new public events.
  5. Under What Discord roles can do, tick what each Discord role can do with the bot, such as Take part (vote, RSVP and claim loot) or Events (create and cancel events).
  6. Click Save, then Send test to check it works. Times typed into /events create use your guild's time zone (step 3).

More detail: Connect Discord and Discord commands.

Step 7: Open recruitment

  1. Open Recruitment and go to Form & settings.
  2. Turn on Taking applications and write a short intro.
  3. Review the questions. Name, email and Discord username are always asked; add up to 12 of your own.
  4. If Discord is connected, pick an officers-only channel under Post new applications to a Discord channel.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Go back to your website pages, add the Application form block to a page (a "Join us" page works well), then save and publish.

When someone applies, you'll see them under Pending. Accept and invite emails them an invite link.

More detail: Recruitment.

Step 8: Invite your officers and members

  1. Open Members and click Invite.
  2. Pick a Role: Admin for co-leaders, Moderator for officers, Member for everyone else.
  3. Click Create Invite Link, then Copy, and send the link to that person in a DM.

Each link works once and expires after 7 days, so make one per person. Once they've joined, set their in-game rank from the rank dropdown in the members list.

More detail: Invite and manage members.

Step 9: Schedule your first event

  1. Open Events and click Create Event (or click a day on the calendar).
  2. Fill in the title, description, location (a Discord channel or in-game spot), and start and end times.
  3. Turn on Show on guild website if anyone may see it. Public events also post to your Discord announcements channel with RSVP buttons, if you turned that on in step 6.
  4. Click Create Event.

More detail: Events and roster.

Step 10: Final checks

Five minutes now saves confusion later:

  • Visit your site at yourname.spawnix.gg in a private browser window to see what the public sees.
  • Fill in your profile. Open the menu under your name at the top right and choose My profile. Add an avatar (upload one or Choose a picture from the gallery) and a short bio. Members copy what the leader does.
  • Post a welcome thread in your forum so new members have something to reply to.
  • Look at the Command Deck. The Dashboard shows this week's activity, upcoming events, who's online and, for admins, Promotion Watch.

What to do next

  • Add a poll to settle raid night or your next objective.
  • Browse the Marketplace for themes, sections, event packs and add-ons for your game.
  • If your game has loot, set up your item database and log your first loot haul.
  • Read Tips and tricks for shortcuts most guild leaders find too late.

Tips and tricks

  • Press / anywhere in the dashboard to search members and forum threads, or press G then E to jump to Events. There's a key for most pages; see Tips and tricks.
  • Send invite links in a private message, not a public channel. Each link works once, and whoever uses it first gets the role it carries.
  • Make your Recruitment forum category public and link it from your home page. Visitors can read real guild discussion before they apply.
  • Install an Event packs item from the marketplace before your first event. You then pick a template in Start from a template instead of typing the same description every week.
  • Not sure what something does? Most dashboard pages link straight to their article here. Start with Roles and ranks if you only read one more.
