Site themes and looks

Set your website's colors, fonts and buttons, use a marketplace theme, try a theme collection and show off renown cosmetics.

Your site theme is the look of every page on your website at once: six colors, a heading font, a body font and a button style. Change it in one place and the whole site follows.

Every site starts with your game's look. From there you can switch to a theme from the marketplace, or (on Commander and Admiral) design your own.

Open the theme panel

  1. Go to Website pages and open any page in the editor.
  2. Click Theme in the top bar. The Site theme panel opens on the right.

Changes preview on the page right away. They go live, on every published page, when you click Save theme. Discard changes throws away what you haven't saved.

Only owners and admins can change the site theme.

What a theme sets

Colors

Color Used for
Background The page behind everything
Panels Cards and boxes
Primary Buttons, links and highlights
Accent A second highlight color
Text Body text
Muted text Captions and secondary text

Blocks whose color is set to a theme color (like Theme: Primary) follow these. Blocks with a color of their own keep it. That's what makes a theme change recolor your whole site in one go, so use theme colors wherever you can. See page blocks.

Fonts

Pick one for Headings and one for Body text. The list is grouped by feel, with a sample under each picker:

Group Fonts
Clean System (the device's own), Inter, Space Grotesk, Saira
Sci-fi Rajdhani, Orbitron, Exo 2, Oxanium, Chakra Petch, Audiowide
Bold display Teko, Bebas Neue, Russo One, Black Ops One
Fantasy Cinzel, Uncial Antiqua
Serif Roboto Slab, Merriweather, Lora

Buttons

Choose a shape (Square, Rounded or Pill) and a style (Solid or Outline). Buttons set to Site theme in their own settings use these.

Custom themes and your plan

Recruit (free) Commander and Admiral
Your game's look Yes Yes
Use a theme from the marketplace Yes (free themes; premium ones need a paid plan) Yes
Design and save your own theme No Yes

On Recruit you can still open the theme panel and try changes on the canvas. Save theme stays locked, with a link to upgrade. See plans and billing.

On Commander and Admiral, once you've saved your own theme you'll also see Go back to your game's look, which drops your custom theme.

Use a marketplace theme

  1. Go to the Marketplace and open the Themes tab.
  2. Click a theme's preview to see it on sample content.
  3. Click Install. It's added to your themes, but your site doesn't change yet.
  4. Click Use on my site. The card now shows On your site.

When a newer version of a theme comes out, its card shows Update available. Updating the theme you're using applies the new version to your site.

On Commander and Admiral you can start from a marketplace theme and then tweak it in the theme panel.

Theme collections

Theme collections are complete looks for one game, each with its own name and style. A collection shows up in the marketplace as a set of matching items:

Item What it is
… look The theme: colors, fonts and buttons
… site A full website of several pages, written for the theme
… ranks A rank ladder in the theme's voice
… forums A set of forum categories
… events Ready-made event templates
… Discord style Bot posts in the theme's colors and voice
… complete kit A starter kit that installs all of the above in one go, with the theme's artwork

Some collections are free to try. These also have a free … home page and a free … starter kit with the home page, artwork, ranks, forums and events. The complete kit adds the full site, the look and the Discord style, which are premium.

Starter kits put the theme, ranks and Discord style to use straight away, and only the guild owner can install one, since it changes your ranks. Pages arrive unpublished, so nothing on your live site changes until you publish. See marketplace.

Renown cosmetics on your site

As your guild earns renown, it unlocks frames, crests, titles and effects. Once an owner or admin equips them on the Renown page, they show on your website too:

  • the effect plays over the first section of each page, under the menu;
  • the frame and crest decorate a standing strip above the footer, with your guild's name.

Turn on Show our level, title, badges and season recap on the guild website on the Renown page to add your level, title, achievement badges and a Season recap link to that strip.

Renown is earned only by playing together. It's never sold, and some rewards are on a premium track that comes with Commander and Admiral. See renown and seasons.

Tips and tricks

  • Set Primary to the color your guild is known for (your Discord role color, your emblem) and let buttons and highlights carry it everywhere.
  • Pair a characterful heading font (Orbitron, Cinzel, Bebas Neue) with a plain body font (System or Inter). Display fonts are hard to read in long paragraphs.
  • Check contrast between Text and Background on a phone, outdoors brightness included. Pale grey on dark blue looks great on a monitor and vanishes on a phone.
  • Install a few marketplace themes and switch between them with Use on my site to compare. Installing alone never changes your site.
  • On a paid plan, use a marketplace theme as a starting point, then nudge one or two colors to make it yours.
