Create your guild

Choose your game, a starter kit, your web address and your guild's name, and learn which of those choices are permanent.

Creating a guild takes four choices on one screen: your game, an optional starter kit, your web address and your guild's name. Two of them can't be changed afterwards, so this article explains what each one decides before you click the button.

You'll see the Set up your guild screen right after your first sign-in. Already in a guild and want one of your own? Open the guild switcher at the top of the dashboard and choose Start your own guild or Create another guild.

Choose your game

The game is the most important choice, and it's permanent.

Your game decides:

  • What things are called. The dashboard uses your game's word for a guild (Squadron, Corporation, Clan, Tribe…) and for a member.
  • Your starting ranks. Each game comes with its own rank ladder. You can rename the ranks later, or swap in a different ladder from the marketplace.
  • Your website's artwork and the game's default page sections in the editor.
  • Which tools you get. Games with loot get Loot & items (loot hauls and an item database). World of Warcraft games also get characters, plus add-ons built for raiding.
  • What the marketplace shows you. Themes, kits and add-ons made for other games aren't listed.

When you click a game, the screen shows its ranks with a note on the rank where new members start.

Game-specific add-ons

Some add-ons are only offered for certain games:

Add-on Games
Fleet Any game with loot
Soft Reserves, Raid Points, Crafters World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft: Forever
Attunements, Hardcore Memorial World of Warcraft: Forever

See Add-ons for how to install them.

Start from a kit, or start blank

After you pick a game, you may see Start from a kit. A starter kit is a bundle from the marketplace that sets up a lot at once: a look for your website, pages, ranks, forum categories and event templates.

  • Start blank gives you just the basics: your game's ranks and an empty website. You can install kits and other items from the marketplace any time.
  • A starter kit gets you to a finished-looking guild much faster. If you pick one, it brings its own ranks instead of the game's standard ones.
  • Premium kits are marked Premium and can't be picked here. They're included with the Commander and Admiral plans: upgrade, then install the kit from the Starter kits tab in the Marketplace.

Choose your web address

Your guild's website and dashboard live at yourname.spawnix.gg. The part you type is called the slug.

The rules:

  • 3 to 32 characters.
  • Lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens only. Anything else is removed as you type.
  • It can't start or end with a hyphen.
  • It must be free. The screen checks as you type and shows Available when it is. Some names are reserved and can't be used.

Good slugs are short and obvious: your guild's name or a common abbreviation of it, such as iron-legion or ironlegion. Avoid years, server names and anything that might change.

Choose your guild's name

The name is what people see on your website and in the dashboard. It must be 2 to 100 characters, and unlike the address, you can change it later in Settings under General (owner only).

When everything is filled in, click Create Guild (the button uses your game's word). You're taken straight to your new dashboard.

Your first guild is free

Every account gets one guild on the free Recruit plan. If you already own a guild, a new one needs a paid plan: the screen tells you about any trial or discount that applies, and you choose the plan right after creating it. See Multiple guilds and Plans and billing.

After you've created it

Head to Set up your guild in an hour for the next steps: renaming ranks, building your home page, opening your forum and inviting people.

Tips and tricks

  • Before you choose a slug, say it out loud. If you have to spell it for people in voice chat, it's too complicated.
  • Playing a game that isn't listed? Choose Other / Multi-game. It still gets loot and items, and you can rename every rank to fit.
  • Not sure about a starter kit? Start blank. You can install the same kit later from the marketplace, but a kit's pages and forum categories are added to what you have, so it's tidier to choose early.
  • Rename your ranks straight away in Settings under Game & Ranks, before anyone joins. Members never see the old names.
  • Your rank, renown and profile are separate in each guild, so creating a new guild doesn't touch the guilds you've already joined.
