Soft Reserves
Members reserve the drops they're hoping for before a raid, officers lock the list, and your loot hauls show who reserved what.
Soft reserves are the friendly way to run loot in pickup and progression raids alike: before the pull, each raider names the item or two they really want. When it drops, everyone knows who called it. Spawnix keeps the list, shows who's competing for what, and puts the reserves right next to the items on your loot haul.
Soft Reserves is for World of Warcraft and World of Warcraft: Forever guilds.
Install it
An owner or admin opens the Marketplace, goes to Add-ons, and clicks Install on Soft Reserves. Soft Reserves then appears under Operations in the sidebar. See add-ons.
Reserves come from your item database, so add the raid's drops there first.
Start a list (officers)
Officers are owners, admins and moderators.
- Open Soft Reserves.
- Under RAIDS, type the Raid name, like "Molten Core, Friday" (up to 120 characters).
- Pick the Event it's for. Picking one fills in the name if you left it blank. The list shows events from the last two weeks and the next two months.
- Choose how many reserves Each member gets, 1 to 5.
- Click New list.
You can change the event and the number of reserves later from the list itself.
Reserve an item (members)
- Open Soft Reserves and pick the raid on the left.
- Under MY RESERVES, type an item's name and pick it.
- To change your mind, remove a reserve with the X and pick something else.
The heading shows how many you've used, like "MY RESERVES · 1 OF 2". When two or more people reserve the same item, it's tagged CONTESTED in the list, and on your own reserves you'll see how many want it.
Lock the list
Before the raid starts, an officer clicks Lock reserves. Members can't add or remove reserves on a locked list; it shows LOCKED and "Reserves are locked for this raid." Unlock opens it again.
Officers can still fix things on a locked list: use Reserve for a member to add a reserve for someone who missed it, or the X next to someone's name to remove theirs.
Reserves on your loot haul
This is where it pays off. When you create the raid's loot haul and link it to the same event, each item shows "Soft reserved by" and the names, right where you assign loot.
In Discord
/reserves shows the newest list: who reserved what, with contested items marked. Add a raid name to see a different list. The answer only shows to you, with a Reserve in Spawnix button. See Discord commands.
Settings and limits
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| Raid name | Up to 120 characters |
| Reserves per member | 1 to 5, set per list |
| Linked event | Optional, one per list |
Deleting a list deletes its reserves. Removing the add-on hides the page but keeps every list.
Example: a soft-reserve list for raid night
Your guild runs Molten Core every Friday.
- On Monday, you create the "Molten Core, Friday" event.
- In Soft Reserves, you start a list, pick that event, and set Each to 2 reserves.
- You post in Discord: "Reserves are open until Friday 7pm." Raiders pick their two items over the week.
- Friday at 7pm you click Lock reserves and use
/reservesto check the contested items. - After the raid you create the loot haul from the same event. Each drop shows who reserved it, so you hand it to a reserver (rolling between them if it's contested).
Tips and tricks
- Always link the list to the raid's event. Without it, the loot haul has no way to show reserves.
- Lock the list before the first pull, and say so in Discord. Last-second swaps are where arguments start.
- Start with one reserve each for new raid teams; go up to two or three once the team knows the loot table.
- Check the CONTESTED items before the raid so you can agree a tiebreak (a roll, attendance, or Raid Points) up front.
- Start a new list for each raid night rather than reusing an old one. Old lists stay as a record of who wanted what.
