Fleet
Members list the ships (or anything else) they own, the guild keeps its own hangar, and you see it all added up in the dashboard and on your website.
Fleet answers the question every org gets asked: "What have we got?" Each member keeps a hangar of what they own, the guild keeps a hangar of its own, and Fleet adds it all up into one fleet with totals by maker and size. Show it off on your website with the Fleet block.
It's made with ships in mind (Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous, EVE Online), but it works for every game with an item database, so a WoW guild could track mounts or an ARK tribe its creatures.
Before you start
Fleet picks from your item database. Members can only add things that are in it, so check that your ships (or whatever you're tracking) are there first. Many games come with starter items, and the marketplace's Game packs tab can add more.
Install it
An owner or admin opens the Marketplace, goes to Add-ons, and clicks Install on Fleet. Fleet then appears under Operations in the sidebar. See add-ons.
Add to your hangar
- Open Fleet.
- In MY HANGAR, start typing a ship's name and pick it from the list.
- Use the minus and plus buttons to set how many you own (up to 99 of each).
- Optionally give it a name in the Ship name box, like "Hammer of Dawn" (up to 40 characters).
Adding the same ship again adds one to the count. Your hangar also shows on your member profile, so the guild can see what you fly.
If what you're looking for isn't in the list, you'll see "Not in your item database. Add it there first." Ask a moderator or admin to add it.
The guild's own hangar
Owners and admins also see ORG HANGAR, for ships the guild itself owns rather than any one member. It works just like a personal hangar. Org ships are counted in the fleet and tagged ORG.
Reading the fleet
The top of the page shows four totals: SHIPS (counting quantities), MODELS (different items), PILOTS WITH SHIPS and ORG-OWNED.
THE FLEET lists every model with how many the guild has and who owns them. If your items have Manufacturer and Size stats, the fleet also groups totals by maker and by size. Use the category menu at the top to look at one category at a time.
Put it on your website
- Open a page in the website builder.
- Add the Fleet block from the Guild widgets group.
- Pick a Layout (Cards or List) and a Category, or keep Everything in hangars.
- Turn Show totals and Show who owns each ship on or off, and set how many ships to show (up to 200).
- Publish the page.
The block stays empty until a page with it is published. Members' usernames only become public if you turn on Show who owns each ship. See page blocks.
Settings and limits
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| Each line in a hangar | 1 to 99 |
| Ship name | Up to 40 characters |
| Who edits a hangar | Its owner; owners and admins for the guild's hangar |
If you remove the Fleet add-on, the page and the website block go away, but every hangar is kept for when you install it again.
Example: a Star Citizen org
Your org wants a recruiting page that shows its muscle.
- You check the item database has the ships your members fly, adding Manufacturer and Size stats if they're missing.
- You install Fleet and post in your forum: "Add your ships to My Hangar this week."
- You put the org's shared carrier in ORG HANGAR.
- You add a Fleet block to your recruiting page with Show totals on and Show who owns each ship off, and publish.
Visitors now see your fleet totals and every model you field, without anyone's name attached.
Tips and tricks
- Add Manufacturer, Size and Role stats to your ship items. Fleet uses them for its groupings and shows them under each ship.
- Use the category menu (and the block's Category setting) to show just combat ships or just haulers when you're planning an op.
- Keep Show who owns each ship off on public pages unless your members are happy to be named.
- Run a "hangar night" when you launch Fleet: a quick ask in Discord gets most members to fill theirs in at once.
- Ship names are just for fun, but they make the profile hangar feel personal. Encourage members to name their favorites.
